Rodgers Texts Love Before Packers’ First Training Camp with Him as Starting QB

On the night before his first training camp workout as the Green Bay Packers’ starting quarterback, Jordan Love received some advice from his predecessor, Aaron Rodgers. Love, who has been backing up Rodgers for the past three seasons, is now stepping into the role as the team’s first-team quarterback.

In a text message, Rodgers told Love to “be yourself, have fun, enjoy it.” Love understands that it’s his time now and he plans to take Rodgers’ advice to heart.

Despite having only one career start under his belt, Love believes that his three years of experience with the team have prepared him well for this opportunity. Packers coach Matt LaFleur has also expressed confidence in Love, praising his command of the offense.

Love has the support of his teammates, with wide receiver Romeo Doubs stating that they have complete confidence in him. Running back Aaron Jones also emphasized the importance of making Love feel supported to boost his confidence on the field.

During the offseason, Love took the initiative to bring his teammates together for workouts and team-building activities. They worked out together in California, building connections and familiarizing themselves with each other’s playing styles. Love organized activities like bowling and dinners to strengthen the camaraderie among the players.

The California trip has already paid off, as Jones mentioned that the lessons learned there are being applied in practice. Love’s presence during meetings has been beneficial for the young receivers, as he can explain the purpose and goals of plays.

Throughout this transition, Love has been advised by his teammates and Rodgers to be himself and not try to emulate anyone else. He understands the importance of staying true to his own style of play.

In other news, despite earlier thunderstorms, the Packers were able to practice outdoors. Left tackle David Bakhtiari’s practice schedule will be flexible to ensure he is fully recovered from his knee injury before the season starts. The Packers also signed undrafted rookie wide receiver Cody Chrest from Sam Houston State.

Unique Perspective: As Jordan Love steps into the starting quarterback role for the Green Bay Packers, he faces the difficult task of filling Aaron Rodgers’ shoes. However, Love has the support of his predecessor and teammates, who have encouraged him to be himself. With three years of experience under his belt, Love is well-prepared for this opportunity and is focused on being the best version of himself on the field.
