Joe Biden Sends Well Wishes to Steve Scalise for a Quick Recovery from Cancer

The White House has announced that President Biden reached out to House Majority Leader Steve Scalise to express his best wishes for a swift recovery. Scalise, who is battling multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, received the call on Tuesday afternoon.

Scalise recently revealed that after feeling unwell for a week, he underwent blood tests that led to a diagnosis of “very treatable” cancer. Despite his treatment, he plans to continue working and is optimistic about returning to Washington.

Multiple myeloma is a cancer that affects plasma cells and accumulates in the bone marrow. Treatment options include bone marrow transplants, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre expressed sympathy for Scalise and his family, acknowledging the hardships he has faced in recent years. In 2017, Scalise was shot and gravely injured during a congressional baseball practice by a supporter of progressive Senator Bernie Sanders. However, Scalise made a remarkable recovery and returned to the House a few months later.

Overall, President Biden’s call to Scalise demonstrates his concern and support for the congressman’s health and well-being.
